PRODUCT INFORMATION

The Hovercraft Split is purpose built to surf the earth and features a directional shape that truly shines in the backcountry. It’s nimble, squat outline provides the float of a much longer board, and the short running length makes it super maneuverable in the tight trees and skinning up. The blunt nose and directional rocker of the Hovercraft keep you surfin’ on top of the soft stuff, while the stiff tail keeps you stable through any unexpected crust. For enhanced edge grip on icy skin tracks or firm descents, the Hovercraft Split features Inner/Outer Traction Tech 2.0 edges, and for added eco-performance the Hovercraft Split has an Engineered Veneer Topsheet, a black + transparent base and laser etched topsheet markings that eliminate all solvent inks. The Hovercraft Split is also fitted with strong and lightweight Karakoram Ultra Clips 1.0 for solid torsional board lock in ride mode.

Profile: Directional Rocker
Terrain: Powder/Back Country
Response: Responsive

Features:

  • Classic Core: Full wood premium poplar core that offers fun pop, even flex and solid durability.
  • Biax Fiberglass: A dual-direction, dual-layer, stitched fiberglass laminate that provides a fun, forgiving and snappy ride.
  • Sintered 8000 base: Super durable base material made from Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMW-PE) and carbon. Base is easy to repair, easy to wax and super fast.
  • Engineered Wood Veneer: New composite wood veneer topsheets made from
sustainable wood. Wood veneer topsheets dampen the ride and absorb board chatter.
  • Karakoram Ultra 1.0 Clips: Karakoram Ultra Clips 1.0 remain some of the strongest and lowest profile split clips in the world. They deliver rock solid board lock and they are adjustable so you can maintain even compression as your splitboard ages.
  • Oversized recycled edges: Oversized recycled steel edges for added durability and
    improved production sustainability.
  • Recycled ABS Sidewalls: ABS Plastic is one of the necessary evils of snowboard production. Jones improves the sustainability of their snowboards by using only recycled plastic.
  • Wend Natural Wax: Jones boards are ready to shred straight out of the shop
and are factory waxed with WEND natural wax.
  • Factory Tuned: All Jones Snowboards are factory de-tuned at the tip and tail so you can go right from the shop to the mountain.
  • Forever Flex: Forever Flex is a manufacturing process that helps stabilize the flex and rocker profile of a board for it’s lifetime. Our boards now finish the first stages of production slightly overbuilt and then we “break them in” using specialized machinery that mimics extreme riding use. By flexing the fresh board fibers and epoxy at the factory the materials settle in to their final arrangement within the board layup much the same as if you rode the board for 20 days. This process helps us narrow our production tolerances so the board you buy has a more accurate specified flex and rocker profile that will change less as you ride it more.

Profile: Directional Rocker

A hybrid rocker/camber flex pattern defined by more tip rocker than tail
rocker and camber between the bindings. The rockered tips floats the
board’s nose and improves maneuverability while the camber underfoot
provides edge hold and response. A slightly rockered tail maintains the
power and stability of a traditional board but helps keep the tail catch-free
initiating turns and landing switch.

Shape: Directional

A smooth, reliable ride.

Directional shapes generally feature a longer, softer nose and a shorter, stiffer tail. These shapes thrive in an all-mountain environment, as they possess the ability to ride more smoothly than their twin-tip counterparts and behave more reliably in variable snow conditions, anywhere from choppy snow to deeper powder. More twin-looking directional shapes where the difference between nose and tail appear minimal will perform best as crossover freestyle snowboards for those looking to still access the park, while more exaggerated differences will excel for additional float in deep powder.

Flex: 7 (Scale 1 - 10)

Versatility at its finest.

Base: Sintered

High-end base material that is harder, more durable, and faster than extruded bases.
