The Project X is a hybrid all-mountain board that rides smooth and powerful like a luxury sports sedan. It is the same shape as the Stratos, but it’s built with ultralight, premium materials and Fusion Carbon construction. The tapered shape drops the tail in pow for more float and the 3D Contour Base, narrow sidecut and mid-stiff flex offer the perfect balance of turn performance and stability at speed. The directional rocker profile and Traction Tech 3.0 keep the Project X locked on edge accelerating into carves. New for 21/22, the nose section of the wood core is built with Koroyd, an ultralight composite material that is lighter than any wood, but super damp and durable. The Project X also features two layers of Carbon stringers for insane pop and Float Pack inserts that offer a setback stance option for the deepest days.

Features:

3D Base Contour 3.0: Freeride focused 3D Contour Base featuring a 7mm of spoon bevel in the nose and 0 to 7mm of spoon bevel in the tail. Spoon bevel starts at the rocker point.

Tapered Shape: 10mm

Directional Flex Pattern: Off set tip-to-tail flex pattern that is designed for directional freeride boards. The nose, center of board and tail are slightly different stiffnesses to help lift the nose, sink the tail and improve stability at speed.

V-Core: Jones exclusive wood core profiling that offers a stable and playful board feel. The wood core is softer between the feet for easy turn initiation and stiffer in the nose and tail for stability riding through uneven terrain and landing airs.

Blunt Nose: "How a board glides in powder, crust, corn or any snow more than an inch deep, is dictated by it’s front contact point and just past it. Next time you are in soft snow watch how much snow comes over the corner of the nose near the contact point. The billowing snow coming out from behind the tip means you are plowing through it which is obviously slowing you down. By adding a blunt nose you get the float benefits of a much longer nose without the ‘snow plow’ rounded tip and it’s extra swing weight." - Jeremy Jones

Traction Tech 3.0: Traction Tech 3.0 features three bumps per edge (front binding, board center, back binding). The middle bump is slightly bigger than the outside bumps for better grip.

Progressive Sidecut: At the far ends of the sidecut, the radius is incrementally increased as the edge reaches the contact point. Gradually increasing the sidecut radius towards the contact point delivers smoother turn initiation and exit as the edge tracks in and out of the snow with a less abrupt transition.

Fusion Carbon: This cutting edge board lay-up process is the latest evolution of our previous Fusion Tech construction and reduces board weight and improves durability by combining board materials in two stages.

Fusion Core: The Fusion Core is Jones' lightest wood core yet. Core is made from mostly paulownia with specifically positioned pockets of poplar for improved durability and response.

Ultra Construction: Ultra Construction is the redefinition of what it takes to build a snowboard. Jones tested every inch of the board to precisely position materials exactly where they are needed while eliminating all excess materials. Combining these innovative construction techniques with superlight wood cores and carbon fiber deliver revolutionary results. Jones Ultra boards are the lightest, yet most durable snowboards on earth.

Carbon Stringers: Carbon stringers add torsional stiffness for improved response and increased pop. Carbon layer keeps flex profile dimensionally stable for a consistent ride for the lifetime of the board.

Float Pack Inserts: Allows super setback stance for deep pow days.

Ultra Base: Jones exclusive base material that sets new performance standards. Lab results and snow testing show 25% better wax absorption, better glide in warm/wet snow and better durability for grinding. We’ve also doubled the amount of wax and mixed multiple wax types for a faster factory wax in a wider range of conditions.

Koroyd Core: Engineered core developed by the aerospace industry. Koroyd is the lightest, most advanced damping core material Jones has ever tested. It absorbs the vibrations and adds response at a fraction of the of the weight which enhances control and confidence. Koroyd’s performance is consistent at temperatures down to -50°C.

ECO-Plastic Topsheet: Bio-plastic topsheet made from castor beans. An eco material that is ultralight, chip/scratch resistant, and water/snow repellant meaning snow sticks less to your topsheet!

Recycled Edges

Recycled Black ABS: ABS Plastic is one of the necessary evils of snowboard production. Jones improve the sustainability of their snowboards by using only recycled plastic.

Bio Resin: A bio-based epoxy made with 27% plant-based carbon instead of petroleum-based carbon. The organic materials used to make it are waste products of plant-based industrial processes. They require 33% less greenhouse gas emissions to produce than conventional epoxy.

Wend Natural Wax: Factory waxed with natural wax.

Forever Flex: Helps with stabilizing the flex and rocker of a board for its lifetime.

Directional Camber

Camber underfoot with a bit of rocker lift in the nose gives you the ultimate best of both worlds for a pow ready board that holds up in any condition.

This board bend has entry rocker that adds lift to the nose while a camber section under both feet maintains momentum and stability through deep-driving turns and variable conditions. This bend caters to those who like the attributes of traditional camber but want something that will get up to speed and float easier in pow.

Directional Tapered

Directional tapered boards excel in a pure mountain environment. The tail sinks in pow for better float and quicker turns.

A directional shape with a longer, softer nose and a shorter, stiffer tail get taken to the next level with a tapering design—which sees a wider nose tapering into a narrower tail. The advantages are two-fold: this shape not only sees mega-enhanced floatation with a surfy feel in deep powder, it also creates a faster turning snowboard which is noticeably more nimble and great for tree riding.
